Hugo Ramón and Miguel Rondón Make History: Two Spaniards Reach Four Mini-Transat Finishes in 2025

The Mini Transat 6.50 has long stood as one of the most demanding challenges in ocean racing.

Sailing solo across the Atlantic in a 6.50-meter boat, without assistance and without external communication, is a test of pure endurance, mental resilience, and seamanship.

In 2025, this legendary race delivered an unprecedented milestone for Spanish sailing: Hugo Ramón and Miguel Rondón became the first Spaniards to complete four editions of the Mini Transat, joining a very small group of sailors worldwide who have achieved this feat.

Both Hugo and Miguel had already built respected reputations within the Mini Transat scene, but their participation in the 2025 edition elevates them to the ranks of offshore-sailing icons.

Until now, only a handful of sailors globally had managed to complete the race four times. In 2025, Spain now proudly counts two names in that exclusive club.

Hugo Ramón, reached his fourth crossing after earlier participations in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

Miguel Rondón matched the achievement by successfully completing his fourth consecutive transatlantic race 2019, 2021, 2023, 2025, further strengthening his status as one of the most consistent and determined figures in the Mini class.

An Achievement that goes beyond competition, the significance of their accomplishment lies not only in the number of participations but in what finishing the Mini Transat truly represents.

Finishing a single Mini Transat is already considered a triumph. Completing it four times speaks of exceptional discipline, preparation, talent and an extraordinary connection with the sea.

A Moment of Pride for Spanish Sailing, the 2025 double milestone places Spain firmly among the great nations of the Mini class.

Their achievements have been warmly celebrated within the sailing community, which recognizes the inspiration they provide to a new generation of ocean racers.

First leg of the Mini-Transat cancelled due to a hurricane

The first leg of the race has been cancelled due to the proximity of Hurricane Gabriel.

Safety always comes first, and we are relieved to confirm that all of our sailors are safe and currently sheltered in Portuguese ports.

Once the danger has passed, the fleet will continue its journey towards La Palma, where the adventure will resume and competition will officially restart.

While the ocean has reminded us of its strength, the determination of our sailors remains intact and ready to set sail again as soon as conditions allow.
